Alice went outside this morning and just seemed to be waiting for spring to arrive -- it is just about here! The bradford pears are beginning to bloom, and the trees are starting to get that misty green veil that gets a little darker everyday. If you look closely, you can see Gold Kitty soaking up the morning sun from inside the porch! The little bush behind Alice is a hybrid wysteria that came from my grandmother's house. It is just beginning to put on buds.
The camellia is now starting to bloom - a little late this year! Camellias are not native to this part of the world, and the soil and climate are not really suited for camellia growing. I think this one lives because it is very sheltered and I fertilize it well. The are really pretty, but they have no fragrance.
Thank you to all our furriends who voted in the MVP photo contest for Bagger, a dog rescued by troops in Iraq and brought to the US by SPCA International. Bagger ended up with 800 votes. Bissell has not announced the winners of this week's contest, but if Bagger wins, he will end up in a final round that could win $10,000 for Operation Baghdad Pups.

We hope Bagger will be lucky. We are also waiting for Spring and we have some crocus but nothing else. We have a camellia but no blossoms yet.
Spring always does come......

Yay spring! And good luck, Bagger!
I think everyone is enjoying all this spring weather and sunshine. My Camillia is on the last of the bloom cycle. I still have a few though. Yours is really pretty and I know you will enjoy it.
No we don't have our own sheep but, Dad says maybe someday we will. Yepper, I Gus has got my first leg in the beginner's herding. Maybe I will get my second leg this year.. Mom has to slow Callie down somehow if she even has a chance at competing. Mom says that she really doesn't care if the Red's compete, she knows they just love being out there herding.. Oh and they sleep when we get home..
We have heard of spring, but have not seen it yet.
Good luck to Bagger. We hope Alice doesn't have to wait long for spring.

Wishing all the best for Bagger - that is a wonderful cause.
The camellia is so beautiful! I am afraid to try and grow them here - when I lived in DC we had older bushes around our house and they were incredible.
Sorry to hear about the snow - we had flurries last night (yuck!) but it's supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow.
Oh, and thanks for the good wishes for Franklin. He is really fine except for the actual attacks - he still acts like a kitten most of the time (much to the dismay of the other cats!)
Oh yes the tomato is just fine.. We have 70 degrees now..

We bet Spring has arrived in the meantime, it sure has at our place. Although the weather is very unsettled these days. How the "new" garden coming along?
