About 10 or 11 years ago, I received a phone call from a friend who had watched as a small SUV drove round her cul-de-sac and dropped off a full grown ginger tabby cat before they took off. "What do I do? He's walking up to my door?" Naturally, I told her to let him in. My husband and I went over to her house with a cat carrier to pick up the poor abandoned kitty. As soon as we met this cat, we thought he was special. My Mom had just lost her cat Puffy not long before, so she agreed that the homeless ginger tabby could come to Pea Ridge to live.
My Mom pronounced his name Harry Kitty upon arrival in Pea Ridge. Harry instantly took to his new life in the country; he ended up in the very best place for Harry. He got on well with the dogs, enjoyed outdoor excursions, and loved his people.
Two years ago, Harry became listless and stopped doing things he normally liked. He became very fat, though my Mom was careful about his diet. A visit with Dr. MaryBeth determined that Harry had diabetes. This was not good news; most cats do not live more than a year or so after diagnosis, so Dr. Mary Beth explained.
We are happy to report that Harry Kitty is in vigorous health, due in large part to the excellent care he gets from my Mom and Dad. He has never missed a shot (2x per day) and he has never had anything else to eat but his special crunchies (he still asks for friskies with gravy, every morning). Harry has to gave blood tests once a month to make sure everything is on track.
Harry Kitty enjoys having company, digging for moles in the front field, snoozing on the sofa, and meowing at his people. As you can see from these photos, Harry likes to help with computer projects, catch up on light reading, and generally hang out.

Thank you for stopping and for your kind words. I can't imagine how hard it could have been for you to loose a precious kitty after 20 years, how truely sad.
We are focusing on the happy times with Cal and that helps.
Yay to Harry Kitty! We love the whiskers! We think he asked to be let out where they dropped him off because he just knew cat people were going to find him. He was very lucky, that could have easily ended differently.
Purrs for a wonderful weekend!

I was just over visiting a few hours ago. He was just going in from his afternoon romp. Hank was in trouble because he didn't want to go in the house. His dinner had to be delayed because he refused to go in. But, you can only hold out for so long. Harry knows better.
I noticed Baby Bean was busy blogging. Keep up the good work. Love seeing you, even if it is on a computor.
Harry looks like a wonderful cat. I'm very happy that he found a loving home. The lady used to have a cat with diabetes (his name was Romeo), and she had to give him shots twice a day, too. She used to do this while he ate some wet food and was "distracted".
Many blessings to you for your genuine love for animals.
What a lovely story, and great to hear he's enjoying life despite his condition, inspirational moggy!
Ginger cats are the BEST! We loved our ginger moggy, better than this tabby monster we still have!
Slobbers xx
