It took me about 4 years to research and write my dissertation, so for roughly 4 years I have done little in the way of organizing. Even under the best of circumstances, I tend to make piles of stuff round the house, but this past year -- in which I was doing almost nothing but actively writing -- my piles became grand champion and frankly, overwhelming. They have taken over certain portions of the house. Since handing in my document, I've been trying to clear through them a little at a time. This task -- plus looking after Sammy, who is extremely high-maintenance -- takes most my time!
At the risk of embarrassing myself, I am going to share with you my EXTREME messes so you can see what I'm up against. Really, it looks as though we are moving.
The Living Room --

The Dining Room --

A long shot of both rooms together -- you can see my nice den rug is rolled up on the floor here to prevent Sammy from ruining it. There are baby gates on both ends of these rooms to keep dogs OUT!!! You can also see that I never have put away BB's camp trunk and other items, though I did unpack and do wash!

Like Mother, like Daughter: BB's messy table --

BB and I both contributed to this mess on the porch --

You can see that we have out work cut out for us. In the meantime, BB and the dogs have been enjoying our new gas log fireplace:

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Well, if it's any comfort to you, it all looks suspiciously like our house....
Hahahahaha! We're speechless! How could you hide this in your previous photos? Mom says she feels loads better now as she's a pilemaker too. Four years of intense work, wow. We're so proud! We hope you're feeling good, that cleaning up can distract from those nasty apres-handing-in-downs that are known to sneak up on one around our place.
Many purrs, Siena & Chilli
P.S.: A fireplace and no cats in front of this? Mmmh, something wrong with that...
*pssst*
My mom is piler and boxer too!

If its any help. Mum is a hoarder.. Drives dad mad.. mol.. Me I love it, more to hide in.. Hugs GJ x
We are also hoarders!!! We tend to have stuff piled into cupboards right enough so you don't notice until you open a cupboard door and it all falls out!
We are hoping to move in the next year and at the moment trying to get organised to put the house on the market so we know how you feel!
Sometimes it just seems like too much work!
The main thing is everyone is happy - loved the pics in front of the fire - really life doesn't get much better!
xxxx
That is okay. You did so good with your dissertation. Now you will have time to start one room at a time; or one cornor at a time. You will be fine.
Looks perfectly normal to me! :-D
That's ok mom, those are YOUR rooms..

How's it coming along? If we lived closer we'd come help, the PM loves to organize!! You wouldn't know it if you came over though, with the two wee ones and homeschooling, the place in arranged in nice piles too!
