Tuesday in Pea Ridge

Spring Break is here! Yesterday, Baby Bean, Alice, and I piled into the car and headed East for Pea Ridge. We got here last evening, just in time to see a possum, a racoon, and quite a few deer come up to near the house to eat. (Nana feeds the wild animals: corn for the dear, & dry cat food for the possums and racoons. Last night we also put out some left-over mango).

My camera doesn't have a very good zoom, so I did the best I could with the possum pic. He is cute, but don't get to close -- possums are very fierce!

After the deer eat, they head to the pond for a drink. I did not know this and let Alice out to run around. I saw some deer streaking for the woods and Alice on their tails....I think it was one of the finest moments of Alice's life! The deer were in no danger of being caught, but Alice was very proud.

I brought two bankers boxes of notes and books with me to work while I am here. Sadly, I have not yet finished chapter one, but I'm close and hope to finish it this week. My supervisor gave me good feedback and called one of my sections, and I quote, "important and pathbreaking." I am naturally thrilled at this!

Harry Kitty has set up shop underneath the dining room table where I am working and has claimed the position of "study buddy." Good thing, because I can't write a thing without a buddy!

Hank (short-haired sheltie), Scooby (hound mix), and Alice are all outside playing in the field. Baby Bean took some excellent pictures of Nana's amaryllis that are currently in bloom. They are an old-fashioned kind; the bulbs were originally Nana's great grandmother's. I have some too, but mine are not nearly as showy.

Really lovely amaryllis.

Harry Cat looks (like all cats do) wonderful against a Persian rug.

Those possums have razor teef!

I think some Siberian fur would look good on the khat on the persian rug!

Mom says she has never seen such an huge Amaryllis in her life. What a great heirloom! What are you working on? You asked if "Diplom" is like a thesis and mom says she thinks it is if a thesis is the final work of your normal career, no PhD or something like that...
